Continuing a year of growth, Flume Health has brought on Andrew MacGill to lead product development and advance its technology platform, the latest in a string of key hires.
Andrew brings 15 years of startup experience in employee benefits and healthcare to the Flume team. Prior to Flume, Andrew led product development at PerkSpot, Spotlite, Rally Health (acquired by UnitedHealthcare) and Pager.
In previous roles in employee benefits and healthcare, Andrew recognized that innovative consumer experiences, care delivery models, and technologies were limited by outdated technology and a broken healthcare system.
“In each instance, we had grand ideas on what we could deliver,” he said. “But, in almost every instance, when we came into contact with the realities of the healthcare system that vision had to be tempered. Healthcare’s infrastructure layer must be transformed in order to enable the vision of disruptive companies and technologies.”
Andrew joins the company at a pivotal time. Flume Health is the first tech platform powering the next generation of healthcare plans, delivering lower costs and better care. As head of product, Andrew said he is excited to mature Flume’s product function and build a world-class platform and infrastructure.
“I’ve watched firsthand as unrealized potential has been ‘left on the table’ as healthcare startups have struggled to deliver on their vision once they come into contact with the irrational realities of our health insurance and healthcare system,” he said. “I’m excited to join this remarkable team and see what I can contribute to what they’ve created.”
