Network considerations
IDMC: HTTPS to <pod>.informaticacloud.com. No VPN needed.
PowerCenter (on-prem): VPN required. Repository service typically on port 6005-6007. Need access to repository DB (Oracle or SQL Server) or the Repository Service API.
Credential and auth management
IDMC: API-only user. Create a user with read-only API access in IDMC admin. Use the Informatica V3 REST API.
PowerCenter: Repository read-only user. Create a user with “read” privilege on target folders. Access via pmrep CLI or Repository Service web services.
Metadata extraction: Informatica stores mapping logic in its repository DB. Direct DB access (read-only) to the repository tables is the most complete method for PowerCenter.
